The Weeknd Shrugs Off Criticism Of ‘Nonexistent’ Acting Skills And Graphic Sex On The Idol
The Weeknd isn’t upset about negative reviews for his new HBO series, The Idol. The singer/songwriter said he expected criticism for his show in an interview with Variety on Tuesday (June 20.)
Currently, the series has a 16 percent rotten rating from top critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and viewers have criticized it on social media.
Some of the complaints are due to The Weeknd’s acting in the show, while others call it “misogynistic” and view sex scenes as “torture porn” due to graphic nudity featuring Lily-Rose Depp.
‘It’s almost educational that this is what comes with being incredibly famous. You’re surrounded by people who you’re not sure what their true intentions are, even if it seems like they’re good. You just never know,’ The Weeknd said of the series.
