A Tennessee state trooper went above and beyond this week, helping to deliver a baby along an interstate highway.

Trooper Aaron Ranker was dispatched to I-40 in Nashville to investigate a crash.  That’s where he found the mother, Sharie Madrid, going into labor.

Ranker was the right man for the job – as a former EMT, he has medical experience and had even delivered babies twice before.  He was able to assist Madrid as she gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Both mother and child are currently doing well and will soon be released from the hospital.
