A 16-year-old Pennsylvania teen is your official Fortnite World Cup Champion – not to mention $3 million richer.
JUST IN: Kyle Giersdorf, 16, is the winner of the Fortnite World Cup. He wins $3 million. The winners of the US Open of Tennis, in the same venue in five weeks, will make $3.85 million. pic.twitter.com/AfXBEUWIGu
16-year-old Kyle Giersdorf, who goes by the online handle “Bugha”, topped the singles leaderboard at last weekend’s Fortnite World Cup, competing against 100 other competitors at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City.
Before qualifying for the #FortniteWorldCup in April, @bugha’s mom got him a Wawa sandwich and a Gatorade, a tradition for the 16 year old before big games.
On Sunday, the Philadelphian broke that tradition, but it didn’t matter. He won $3 million. https://t.co/1on8KfUeOX
