Nick Cannon Talks About How Kel Mitchell Gave Him His First Opportunity In TV At 16 Years Old

Nick Cannon revealed on his talk show that if it wasn’t for Kel Mitchel from “Kenan and Kel” that he wouldn’t have gotten his first break in television.

The multi-hyphenate entertainer says Kel gave him his first shot at 16-years old as a warm-up act to the “Kenan and Kel” show and he even wrote some of the episodes.

At 16 I would drive up in my mama’s old car. Kel would let me sleep in his apartment sometimes. You and Keanan just opened your doors to me and really saw me as family. If I haven’t said thank you enough. I say it again,” Nick said.

Kel is now the executive producer of the reboot of “All That” as well as a father, pastor, and author. He is set to appear alongside Kim Fields in VH1’s Adventures in Christmasing as a part of their Naughty or Nice holiday movie lineup.
