Lil Nas X To Be Honoured At Songwriters Hall Of Fame Ceremony

Lil Nas X is set to be honored at the Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony on June 16th. Nas X will receive the Hal David Starlight Award, which recognizes “gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs.”

In response to his award, Lil Nas X tweeted, “‘Shoot a child in your mouth while I’m riding’” finally getting its recognition.”

The Songwriters Hall of Fame chair Nile Rodgers spoke on Lil Nas X saying in part, “He has perhaps better than anyone demonstrated how powerful great songs are, with ‘Old Town Road’ and ‘Montero’…he’s an incredible and inspirational person for every one of his communities as well.”

Lil Nas X is in good company with Drake, John Legend, and Alicia Keys being past award winners. Pharrell Williams, Mariah Carey, and The Isley Brothers will also be honored this year.

Do you think Lil Nas X should have been chosen for the Songwriters HOF award or is it too soon in his career?
