‘It’s Showtime’: Judge Tees Up Cardi B Trial in $5 Million Suit Over ‘Sexual’ Cover Art

Cardi B’s $5 million lawsuit claims she misappropriated a California man’s tattooed likeness and portrayed him in a “sexual” context on her 2016 mixtape “Gangsta B__ch Music” cover.

Kevin Michael Brophy Jr. claims in his 2017 lawsuit that he suffered “distress and humiliation” because his back tattoos are on a faceless man whose head is between Cardi’s legs as she drinks a beer in a limousine.

Cardi insists Brophy’s tattoo art was superimposed without her knowledge on the back of a male model who posed with her during a Toronto photoshoot.

She argues Brophy, who is white, is not the same person as the black model in the photo, and the tattoo design on her cover art “is demonstrably different” from the image of Brophy that was “photoshopped” to add his likeness.

In his filings, Brophy describes himself as a “family man with minor children” who resides near Los Angeles and works “for a surfing and lifestyle company.” He says he faced “uncomfortable comments, questions, and ridicule from community members and family” after learning of the “egregious” misappropriation.

Do you think Cardi B will win this case or will she have to pay up?
