Daddy Yankee Officially Retires From Reggaeton to Devote His Life to Christianity

Daddy Yankee is giving up reggaeton for Christ.

The world-famous singer of “Gasolina” initially announced the news last year, but he announced it again Sunday night (December 3) in Puerto Rico during his farewell tour.

Yankee announced his faith-based future after performing his most famous international record. He spoke to hundreds of fans while crying. Yankee’s Coliseo de Puerto Rico concertgoers praised him after his passionate declaration announcing his retirement from reggaeton.

“This day, for me, is the most important day in my life. Tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one,” Yankee said in Spanish to the crowd and also wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption.
